If you can pick up in North Yorkshire the price will of course be adjusted. Not easy to price these relatively rare guitars but I'm looking for £850 to include a new Thomann hardcase and insured courier fees (UK only). I can't swear all the trem springs are original. Tokai Springy Sound ST60 1979 - Sunburst. You may not like the bigger frets if complete originality is your thing. Tokai Springy Sound ST-60 - Golden Era Japan 1980 - 3 Tone Sunburst - Has the Grey Bobbin E Pickups and A Pickguard - Hand Wound 54 Strat Copies. It's got some dings, scratches, scrapes from 40 years of life (but absolutely nothing structural or major). Original knobs are almost impossible to source and hilariously overpriced. I've replaced all 3 knobs with relic replacements - I've got the originals including the headless Tone knob to pass on. One of the Tone knobs disintegrated soon after I bought the guitar. The serial number with 7 digits (second being 0) suggests a 1980 guitar. If so, there should be a number stamped on the body end of the fretboard. There's no headstock plug which seems to suggest an earlier guitar. Frets are 100%, very little played since refret. 1982 Tokai Springy Sound ST-50 upgraded with handwound Amber Pickups 'Gregor HildennbspSet' for Stratocaster, frets Dunlop 6105 Frets, aged Knobs (Monster. The 7okai logo was carried on into 83 when it was changed to the TOKAI block logo. Not original spec I know but I wanted the bigger frets. Had a complete professional re-fret and set up in 2022 (Superaxes in Harrogate) with Fender medium jumbo 6150 frets and Tusq XL nut. It’s mostly original (body / neck / saddles /pickups / pots / wiring / tuners). It's rare - find another all black finish. It's a Tokai, built to exacting Japanese standards in the early 80s and it's a lovely thing! Sen ash body. it's got mojo and it plays and sounds great. It's a player’s guitar with some bodywear - dings etc in the usual places - if you're looking for a case queen this isn't it. ![]() ![]() It’s an ST60, ST50 spec but with upcharges for the matching black neck and headstock. It's a very rare all black special order (headstock and neck), I've only ever seen one other on Reverb. It’s official, I’m a Tele not a Strat guy, so here’s a 1982 Tokai Springy Sound, a replica of a 62-64 Strat, made for the Japanese market and imported from Japan to the UK.
